James Hillis is an Oberlin Conservatory Graduate, and Winner of Tanglewood's Outstanding Young Pianist Award. His teachers have included Joseph Schwartz chair of the Oberlin Piano Dept, Veda Kaplinsky, now chair of the Julliard Piano Division, and Julian Martin successively professor at Oberlin, Peabody and Julliard.
